## How to calculate the area of a Trapezium.

It’s very simple to calculate the area of a Trapezium, you just need to use the following formula.

A = 0.5 x (a + b) x h

Where

A = The Area

a = The length of the top

b = The length of the base

h = The height

Lets try an example

## Example

You’ve been asked to calculate the area of a Trapezium, you measure **the top and find it is 4 meters long**, next you measure the **base and find it is 10 meters** long and finally you measure the **height and find it is 5 meters.**

Find the area using the formula

**A =** **0.5 x (a + b) x h**

**A =** **0.5 x (4m + 10m) x 5m**

**A =** **0.5 x (14m) x 5m**

**A = 7m x 5m**

**A = 35m ^{2}**

The answer is 35m^{2}. Thirty five meters squared
