How to calculate the area of a Trapezium.

It’s very simple to calculate the area of a Trapezium, you just need to use the following formula.

A = 0.5 x (a + b) x h

Where

A = The Area

a = The length of the top

b = The length of the base

h = The height

Lets try an example

Example

You’ve been asked to calculate the area of a Trapezium, you measure the top and find it is 4 meters long, next you measure the base and find it is 10 meters long and finally you measure the height and find it is 5 meters. Find the area using the formula A =0.5 x (a + b) x hA =0.5 x (4m + 10m) x 5mA =0.5 x (14m) x 5mA = 7m x 5mA = 35m2 The answer is 35m2. Thirty five meters squared
