Volume of a sphere

How to calculate the volume of a sphere

volume of a sphere

The volume of a sphere can be calculated using the following formula

V = (4÷3) x Π x r3

Where

V = Volume (m3)
Π = Pi (3.142 approx)
r = Radius (m)

Example

You’ve been asked to calculate the volume of a spherical water tank. The sphere is 4m in diameter (2m radius).

Calculate the volume using the folrmula

V = (4÷3) x Π x r3
V = (1.333) x 3.142 x 23
V = 1.333 x 3.142 x 8
V = 4.188 x 8
V = 33.5m3
